Al Jardine Says the Beach Boys Still Considering 50th Anniversary Reunion Show

According to Rolling Stone, Beach Boys guitarist Al Jardine has said that the band will reunite for one show to celebrate their 50th anniversary.  Jardine says that Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Bruce Johnston and possibly early guitarist  David Marks are "definitely doing at least one show -- you heard it first."  Jardine also said that the show will probably allow fans to attend for free.  He's not sure where the show will happen yet but he did say that "Golden Gate Park was mentioned, as was the [National] Mall in Washington, D.C. and the north shore of Chicago by the beach."

While this is exciting news for Beach Boys fans, you may want to curb that excitement for now.  You may recall that Mike Love first claimed in June that Brian Wilson would reunite with the group, but then quickly retracted his statement, saying instead that "there are no current 'reunion' tour plans," and no plans for Wilson to rejoin the group because "has new solo projects on the horizon."  Wilson's manager, Jean Sievers, echoed that sentiment to Rolling Stone, saying "Brian has a big new album coming out in August and that's what he's a hundred percent focused on."  Recently, a source close to Love said that plans for a reunion are in the works but nothing is set.

Jardine is still optimistic, however, and hopes that the one show could turn into "a 100-date anniversary tour."  But if he only gets one shot at a reunion, then he says, "We're going to have to rehearse one hell of a show."
